It's often been said that "a good walk deserves a good beer" so what better way to finish a walk around our beautiful Cragg Vale countryside, than to relax in a friendly pub with some good food and drink ?
We're compiling a few ideas of where to go walking around the area, many of which will include a visit to one of our local hostelries, so if you are fancying a walk and you're looking for inspiration here are a few ideas of routes to follow, along with distances and expected timings .
Do you have a favourite walk in the area ? if so, we'll be happy to include it in our library. Just send the directions to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. and we'll test out the route and add it to our collection. Happy rambling!

Cragg Vale Heritage TrailThe Heritage Trail Storyboards have been installed at six sites along the valley. Each board gives further background information to the local area and the six boards link to provide an informative and scenic walk through Cragg Vale past and present. The boards include artwork from children from Calder Valley Steiner School and Cragg Vale J&I School. The Trail Guide is available from Hebden Bridge Tourist Office. It can be downloaded with an 'e-trail App' (with map, walk, directions, audio commentaries and historical photographs) from www.penineheritage.org.uk/Trails Pictures of all six boards can be found on the pictures page of this site (Heritage Trail). Cragg Vale Community Association wants to say a special ‘Thank You’ to Calderdale Council, Hebden Royd Town Council and Craggs Energy for their financial support, to Pennine Horizons, Yorkshire Wildlife Trust and RSPB for use of their photographs and to CROWS for putting the boards in place. |
